Tumblr is the tried and true home of trendy freaks and street style kings — along with basically every other tech savvy young person. The new kid in town, Pinterest, serves a much different market — social media has finally accessed the 30+ woman (!) — but essentially the same purpose. So let’s play favorites: which one’s yours?
Pinterest is more sanitary, a cleaned up version, a post-Giuliani New York City. Tumblr on the other hand is a playground for the bizarre, the rare, the grotesque and the beautiful. While Pinterest has baking recipes, Tumblr will teach you how to get high on nutmeg. Tumblr is inherently cooler, but Pinterest makes more sense — and it has a nifty ‘Pin It’ button that you can drag to your bookmark bar and press every time you find an image worthy of being uploaded to your page. Tumblr updates are seemingly disposable — you repost, have the momentary joy of viewing all your kewl images and then
it’s gone, shuffled back into the abyss of updates past. Pinterest on the other hand is a veritable virtual filing cabinet. Everything you find is neatly organized into it’s appropriate file to be accessed evermore. This leaves us personally at a stand still in the choice of favorites. Pinterest makes more sense, but Tumblr, its users and its content are so much more fun, unexpected and inspiring. As for your choice, we’ve provided some examples of our respective Tumblr and Pinterest pages below so you can decide for yourself which platform is the superior image sharing site.
