Our London office is overflowing with leather samples of every color of the rainbow. We are planning our SS13 collection and we’re working like crazy to get you some out of this world Spring styles…iridescent leather anyone?
So as we all work to get the neon craze out of our system — which is no easy task to say the least — Laura has been tirelessly working on formulating the perfect pastel injection for our Spring collection. Our inspiration is really all over the place this season, think futuristic elements with a biological twist. Lots of minerals and crystals — we’re working on some killer gradients — some space age ideas, some glitter details, and a big focus on oily iridescent colorways. Check out the Pinterest board that Laura put together at the beginning of the design process to get a good feel of what we’re trying to combine for our Spring/Summer 2013 ELECTROMANCER collection. If you find yourself particularly inspired after taking a look you can add your own inspiration — we’ve set up a way for you to sign up to be able to pin to our audience participation board, so anything that you find while roaming the web that fits our theme please feel free to add it in! Direction to do so are in our blog post Electromancer Pinspiration. Pin away Miistas!
But back to our upcoming color palette — Anthony our new superstar graphic designer showed us this site ISO50 and we immediately knew we had to include it on our blog as the work displayed fits so nicely with our upcoming collection. ISO50 is Scott Hansen’s design pseudonym and the site houses both his personal work and the work that inspires him. He is a San Francisco based musician, working under the name Tycho, and simultaneously works as an independent graphic designer under ISO50. The site started as a portfolio for his work but has grown into a design blog, shop and clothing line with four other design and music contributors. His blog presents an incredible array of inspiration both from the design and music realms, and while all of the work displayed is beyond, what we’re really after are the colors that are used. Anthony has been following his work for some time now and upon a recent visit he realized that the palette he and Laura have been working within is represented quite nicely.
Lots of pastel tones mixed with nice blues, particularly turquoise, as well as oranges and reds. We’re looking to include gradient action as frequently as possible — and in some interesting, innovative ways. There is one style in particular that we know you’re all just going to die for — the upper is a classic round toe pump but the heel is comprised of thin sheets of plastic which when arranged next to one another reflects a rainbow of light. A Miista take on light up sneaks if you will.
Laura is truly going all out design wise this season, using new combinations of materials and intricate architectural constructions to bring you a collection of irreverent and unique styles. The sampling process has been painstaking — we’ve even had a few shoes melt! — but once it’s complete we KNOW that it will be our best collection to date. We can’t show you photos just yet but we can show you a bunch of the work on ISO50 that will give you a great idea of the colors that will be included. Check out the images below and remember — if inspiration strikes start pinning on our PINSPIRATION board!
