Chloe & Kim for Opening Ceremony
This Autumn/Winter 2013 collection combines so many things that we love: Chloe Sevigny, Opening Ceremony, Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, the power of the people and strong mod looks. Chloe Sevigny has done it again. American actress, Style Heroine
and now budding fashion designer, she just keeps hitting the nail on the proverbial head. Always forward, always true to her own personal style, Sevigny's continuing collaboration with Opening Ceremony has put out season after season of wearable, must haves and this AW13 is no exception. The designs were inspired by social protest and incorporated the feeling of the ultimate protest era, the '60s. As the models stalked the runway they held signs exclaiming "time to have sex" and "the agony of power" while sporting baby doll dresses, puff sleeves, mini skirts and crop tops, wooden platforms and knee socks. And the lookbook, shot by KT Auleta, features not only five versions of our long loved Chloe but also a Vision Street Track Wear tracksuit that needs to be hand delivered to our closet ASAP. The icing on the cake of all of this fashion excitement was Kim Gordon's performance at the collection's New York Fashion Week debut. Gordon's mere presence always brings about vibes of female empowerment and her crooning made the looks flowing down the runway even stronger. Below we've included both the images from the lookbook as well as a video from the runway show featuring Kim's performance. The collection drops in August so prepare yourselves! Side note: when Laura Villasenin was in college she came home to Spain and convinced her parents to let her take her 12 or so year old brother along with her to the local Sonic Youth concert. They had the time of their lives, especially little Pablito, and as such Sonic Youth runs heavy in Miista's blood. An all time favorite.
