100 Years of Vanity Fair
The iconic glossy is celebrating it's 100th birthday and gracing the cover is the one and only Kate Upton -- quite the selection! This October Vanity Fair
is releasing it's 100th year anniversary and the voluptuous Upton is on the cover, posing in reference to the magazine's first edition in 1913. The feature editorial features a series of portraits shot by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz. For Upton's portrait she is pictures lounging on the moon, a pose that looks back to the original cover of Dress & Vanity Fair
from October 1st, 1913. Graydon Carter, editor since 1992 (the year Upton was born) remarks, "In an age when nothing seems to last − not convictions, not even cities − a centennial, like the one Vanity Fair
celebrates this year, makes me marvel at the simple fact of longevity." 100 years of journalism and fashion, it is an incredible milestone for the magazine. Also in celebration, the magazine selected ten of the most important writers of our time to write about the essence of each of the past 10 decades. In addition, Carter also chose to publish a series of the magazine's most recognizable images -- including portraits by Leibovitz, Mario Testino, Bruce Weber and Edward Steichen. The issue will become available September 10th and definitely check out their website
