We got in touch with another Miista girl with a rad Instagram account! Today's featured feed belongs to Salina in Singapore. She has a very feminine and elegant style, and her Instagram feed carries a beautiful aesthetic - you'd think it's curated by a professional. She claims it's nothing like that, but you can see for yourself when you follow her on Instagram
. So you’re from Singapore. What’s the best thing about Singapore? If we were to visit, what’s the one spot we should go to?
I love the cosmopolitan culture and the vibrant mix of ethnicity and languages! The freedom to express as well as the inspiration you get from walking across the streets of Orchard Road. And of course, having so many races and cultures all in one small country, there is bound to have a wide variety of food, which is a haven for all major foodies out there like me! Hmm, if you were to visit, one spot you should definitely go to is East Coast for some of Singapore’s famous chili crabs. How old are you?
I’m turning 20 in about 2 weeks! What do you do? And more importantly, what are you about (if its not the same thing)?
I’m a final year student at Temasek Polytechnic, majoring in Retail Management. Other than that, I work at a shop called P.V.S (@pvs_sg) which stocks a variety of shoe brands such as Miista, Jeffrey Campbell and TBA just to name a few! Working there gives me lots of inspirations, from the outfits of our customers to how a pair of shoes can excite or rather, make someone so happy. (They have the same expressions as I do whenever I see Ryan Gosling.) Regarding to what I am about, I believe in working hard for everything and just take life as it is, not being too serious and just enjoying life. On days where I don't have much to do, I like to spend my time watching Kristen Wiig on SNL or some good old Sex and the City. Do you have any people, bloggers, IG users or magazines that inspire you? In terms of fashion and the things that you do?
I admire the styles of Ivania Carpio of Love Aesthetics and I absolutely love all her white ensembles as well as the Olsen twins with their edgy outfits, though I can never differentiate between those two. I also love the Instagram feeds of @fashdistrict and @oraclefoxblog. But I feel it’s important for one to develop their own individual styles, through integrating the styles of their icons and making it their own. Which designers or fashion companies do you like and why (don’t worry – you don’t have to say Miista)?
I really like Cameo the label which is an Australian label as well as fashion stores like ZARA and COS. Speaking of which, I’m in love with Zara’s 2014 spring/summer campaign! I really like minimalistic fashion like a simple black dress or a well-fitted leather skirt, which can never run out of style. Just like any other girl, I love love shoes, especially those with unique laces and designs. I get very excited when I see new samples or shipments at the office from brands like Jeffrey Campbell and Miista. There was a day at the office I remember vividly - I was so excited with the new samples and shipment of Miista. With every sample shoe I saw, the louder the “ohmygods” were. You take great IG pictures! Are you a photographer or are you just a very talented amateur with a great eye?
Thank you! Sadly, I’m not a photographer at all, but I do love to take pictures of my friends, especially their outfits of the day as well as product pictures for P.V.S! I get really excited when the pictures turn out great, just like how I want it to be or even better. However, with my twin being more involved in photography, I hope to learn some of it from her! Telepathically would be best, hahah! What’s your favourite song at the moment?
My favourite song is Happy by Pharrell Williams. This song gets me through any bad hair days or nasty customers! It turns any frowns into smiles and is such a mood lifter (Great for period pains) Anything else you’d like to say?
I’m deeply honored to be featured here and so grateful for this opportunity that you guys have given me. Never would I have thought that you guys would approach me and for that, thank you!
