Meet Laura from Spain. This time not Miista's own Laura Villasenin but instead Laura Gabarró, a fashionista working in life sciences. We have a penchant for unique combinations and she def ticks that box! We discovered her Instagram the other day when she posted a picture of her Miistas coupled with a super groovy dress. Browsing through, we saw it's filled with beautiful outfits and cool stuff, it was only the matter of finding her email address that we speak to her about things she gets up to. . We see that you split your time and life between London and Barcelona. What’s your secret fave spot in both these places?
That’s a tough one! If we are talking about food in Barcelona I’d definitely choose “Bar del Pla”, a tiny little restaurant with the most delicious tapas I’ve ever tried. If we talk about fashion, I would go for the local designers all over Born neighbourhood and up until Passeig de Gràcia, where all the high street fashion is. And in London…I think I would chose Shoreditch! I love their Sunday UpMarket. You can find real vintage bargains there and the food stalls are just to die for. How old are you?
Turning the scary 26 this year! What do you do?
And more importantly, what are you about (if its not the same thing)? I am a Life Sciences consultant. But with a huge passion for fashion which occupies most of my time when I am not working. Do you have any people, bloggers, IG users or magazines that inspire you? In terms of fashion and the things that you do?
Sure I do! I guess my love for fashion begins with my mum. She’s always been a source of inspiration. I still steal clothes from her! As for bloggers and Instagram accounts, the number is countless. But I am very fond of Susie Bubble, Leandra Medine from The Man Repeller and Nicole Warne from Gary Pepper. And I am not gonna lie, who doesn’t love Olivia Palermo’s style? In regards to magazines, I like to read Glamour and Elle for getting tips on high street fashion and Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar for my outfit inspirations. Which designers or fashion companies do you like and why (don’t worry – you don’t have to say Miista)?
I am a big ZARA fan. You can find pretty much anything you look for in there. You can also find good replicas of luxury items most of the girls can’t afford. But my newest addictions are a brand called &Other Stories and a spanish fashion brand called Bimba&Lola. They both keep it simple but at the same time are very funky and colourful and that is the kind of style I like. You take great IG pictures! Is this a good eye and a hobby, or is there more to it?
Aw, thanks! I’ve always loved photography and I guess IG just made it more obvious to me. I just wish I had more time to start my own blog and share more pictures to the world! You’re a fashionista working in life sciences which isn’t perhaps the most usual combination. If you could choose to have a career in anything in the world, what would it be?
I love what I do as a professional. However, if you ask me what would I do if I could change my career path completely… then I would go for Fashion PR or Fashion Journalism. I just love the idea of helping companies build and maintain their image. Being creative and thinking outside the box to make that brand stand out from the rest. And what would be better than doing it for the fashion industry, which I am already in love with! Anything else you’d like to say?
Just that I’m deeply thankful to be featured here! I love Miista and I think every girl who loves shoes should get a pair in their closet. Hint: For this summer, get a pair of flashy Isabella Sandals in your life.
