We are in the mood to share some of the new and old music we've stumbled across lately. Turns out having a Traktor app on one's iPhone doesn't make a real DJ so instead of making a mixtape, we'll be sharing videos. One song per day, here's our soundtrack for the week. Dan Beaumont - Trippy Pumper
We all know Monday is the worst day of the week, no matter how much you love your job. It's five early mornings and not seeing enough daylight. Quite possibly the best way to relieve some of that tension is some 90s inspired dance aerobics with Dan Beaumont. Major Lazer - Aerosol Can feat. Pharrell Williams
With the weekend still lightyears away it's hardly time for Happy. But, since both Girl and Apocalypse Soon are out this week, this Major Lazer and Pharrell Williams collab seems appropriate. It's no Lap Dance
but it's good enough to get a lil early week energy boost. Claptone - Ghost feat. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! Half of the week is behind us! Calendar related excitement aside, this is one fine song/video combo. The music pulls you in, the voice melts ice. Claptone's ever creepy bird mask adds to the visuals that will haunt you long after you've stopped watching. It's as weird and chilling as it is easily likeable. A somewhat odd combination but we like. HAIM - If I Could Change Your Mind
So, HAIM's latest video... Some don't seem able to contain their excitement, others seem to think it is simply the worst. Whatever. We think the song is great and we've had it on repeat for days. We're not convinced why hiding the drummer boy is important but the slightly awkward girl band choreography adds a certain sweetness to the three sisters. You know, like they dreamt of being the Spice Girls as kids. Even though they grew up to be far more talented, the dream is still there. Jon Hopkins - Collider (Karenn Remix)
Whether you're a weekend warrior or take a more bohemian approach to life, Friday is still the best day of the week. Some prefer to refuel by retreating into a cave, some by dancing till they can no more. Either way, Karenn's acidic take on Jon Hopkins's Collider is something to get it all out with. If there's any left for the rest of the weekend, go check out the Science Museum exhibit
on the collider in CERN. Jungle - Busy Earnin'
What are you going to do today? Do you spend the day being healthy? You know, exercise and detox and whatever other healthy things? Or do you instead put those dancing shoes on again and stay out until early next morning? There are far too many choices. But, whatever approach you take, the bouncy rhythm of Jungle's latest should be enough to get the laziest of us up and enjoying the little time we don't spend busy earnin'. iamamiwhoiam - hunting for pearls
Sundays are beautiful and so is iamamiwhoiam. It's her voice, her music and what she does around it. The Scandi goddess delights us as much as a lazy Sunday afternoon in bed would. Basically, her and Sundays go together. Both can be described by adjectives someone would use to lure you into their yoga class. This means good things, sans the physical effort.
