It's Friday! But, rather than singing horrible songs by Rebecca Black to state the obvious, we thought we'd share five rad things to do in London over the weekend.
If you like both dancing and the sun as much as we do, you might want to combine the two by going to the iCAN Studios in Hackney Wick for a day party. Hackney Wick has amazing venues popping up like mushrooms after the rain and why not make the most out of it? The lineup pretty much guarantees a great time, there's no reason to worry about after parties (it does finish at 9 o'clock) and if you want, you can just as well be in bed by midnight after 8 hours of partying. Yeah, sign me up. They also have an amazing pop-up food stall called White Men Can't Jerk. You can get the tickets from Resident Advisor
First and foremost one has to nurture their spirit. What's better than theatre, right? Especially if it has a moderately priced bar involved where you can buy liquid spirits if you need some further nourishment. We wrote
about the play because we loved it so - today and tomorrow are the last two nights and though the tickets are sold out, you can go over to Twitter and win a pair. Click here
. We'll even help you out with the answer to their question - it's Thriller which isn't just MJ's personal best but also the world's most sold album ever.
We've noticed our Instagram followers love seeing how shoes are made. We can almost bet you'll be just as excited to see art made - London artist Aleksandra Mir steps up. Her new project Drawing Room sees her along with her assistants spent two weeks putting their sharpies to good use as they work on creating an installation based on the architecture of London. It will be on display for a further six weeks after its completion but we can't deny the concept is fresh. It's also the combination of different art forms - they're drawing, but in a way it's like performance art, or a choreographed dance routine almost. It's exciting. See more info here
Nothing like a bit of shopping to keep us sane, right? Well, Roksanda Ilincic, Jonathan Saunders, House of Holland and others are coming together in Kensington for a sample sale. How's that? The address
would suggest you might see some cool science there, too. Of course for a Saturday calculation all the £££ you'll be saving against retail prices might be enough mathematics. It will for sure cheer a girl up. See more info on Time Out
Once Sunday rolls over you're probably exhausted from all the dancing and culture - so why not go to a music festival? OK, we appreciate it sounds a bit ludicrous but stay with us. Outta Mind festival entails a lot of psychedelic rock and takes place at Shacklewell Arms. It's the cosiest pub in East London. It has pool tables, a dancehall and a nice little garden should the weather hold. The music will be comfortably mellow, though Pharmakon is
a noise artist. There will be a lot of energy but the direction of movement will probably see you filled with it as you leave. The perfect way to end a weekend then. Of course right now ending our weekend is the last thing we want to think of so here's some nice music to get you in the mood instead.
Or something slightly mellower...
Time to get our dancing Miistas on. Enjoy your weekend, lovelies! x
