Tales Of Retail: Harvey Nichols
Harvey Nichols is an institution. It was first opened in 1831 as a linen shop not far from its current location in Knightsbridge. Now their flagship store towers as a shopping destination amongst London’s luxury emporiums. We really do mean it’s a destination. Going to Harvey Nichols is a bit of an experience. Book an appointment for a new do or a spa session, or just get some treats (like soap that contains real silver!) from the beauty department to pamper yourself at home afterwards. The fifth floor is reserved for restaurants as well as their food market. They stock hundreds of exclusive Harvey Nics foodie delights to take home and throw a dinner party like no other. Even if cooking means fights with your fire alarm, the selection there is guaranteed to make you forget all about it. But enough of the food and soap! It’s the fashion that makes our heads spin. Across the eight floors you can indulge in some of the finest, coolest brands the world has to offer. The selection is edited to the finest standard. Building a whole new wardrobe at Harvey Nics is somewhat of a dream – for women and men alike. What’s more is the shoes…so many shoes! Of course there’s Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin, but Harvey Nichols stocks plenty of cool young brands too. Miista amongst them! The department store isn’t just their Knightsbridge flagship. Purveyors of fine fashion, they have stores across the UK, Ireland and Asia. This has all grown out of that little shop launched almost 200 years ago. Today it’s managed by a board of 12 – 10 of them women. In the light of gender inequality
in the workplace it’s refreshing to see so many powerful women in action. Our shoes are stocked in Knightsbridge, Edinburgh, Dublin and Bristol, as well as online
. They have personal shoppers and style advisors to help out – if you’re looking for trend tips or have a vision in your mind, they can help you make magic. You can also follow Harvey Nichols on Instagram
