is our favourite makeup artist out there. The girl is talented, so it's no wonder we keep going back to her for all our lookbooks. What with it being holidays and everybody wants to look wonderful, we asked Bea for some expert tips on how to look the best while stuffing our faces with food and booze. When braving a matte lipstick for that Christmas party,
prep your lips first using a Kiko Scrub and Peel
wipe. My trick is to just tear off a little bit of the wipe to make the 20-pack go further. These amazing wipes are two sided with one side being micro-relief soaked in special alpha hydroxyl acid and Vitamin-E based lotion, basically meaning it makes the perfect non-comedogenic and paraben-free lip-scrub, essential when applying a lipstick to last the evening. I also dab on a little Balance Me Rose Otto Intense Lip Salve
after exfoliation to bring the moisture back to the surface of the mouth before going in with my selected lip shade. The holiday season is the perfect time to try something new
that you wouldn’t necessarily always wear on a day-to-day basis, it’s basically your “get out of jail free” card for makeup! I thoroughly recommend having a play around with Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eyeshadow
, my favourite shades being “Comex Platinum” and “Comex Gold” A good makeup brush will save you hours
of struggling away with dodgy sponges and Eyeshadow applicators. My favourite of the moment are NARS red-bottomed and matte black lacquered stem Artistic Brushes, particularly #42 Blending Eyeshadow Brush
, which is perfect for diffusing colour over the eyelids and sockets, and #13 Precision Blending Brush
, which is perfect for a clean-black eye liner. Someone said to me that they are the “Louboutin” of makeup brushes (due to their red tips), I’d say they are the Miistas ;) Eyelashes. Flutter them, and the world could fall at your feet!
My favourites are by Ardell and are called Wispies
. They feature a clear band (which is better for hiding the fact you are wearing false eyelashes) and are knotted and feathered by hand. I love that these eyelashes also come in brown, so better for that “natural, yet full” look. And saving the best eyelash-related news til last.. They also come in fun hues of colour to enhance the natural colours of your eyes in shades such as blue, green and plum. No excuses for a boring Christmas! While on the subject of eyelashes, I should also give a mention to cat-related eyelash curlers in the form of Shu Uemura’s collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld titled “Shupette” named after his famous cat, Choupette. The Shupette Flair Eyelash Curler
is exactly the same style as the original Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler except it also has a very cute keyring, but of course it is Limited Edition so get it while you can. My last tip is not to forget about your body and limbs over Christmas.
Balance Me Super Toning Body Oil
is the most delicious smelling body oil that I’ve smelt to date with active ingredients such as juniper, bergamot and lavender. I’d recommend an oil over a moisturiser for the winter-season to help lock in the moisture that the cold outside air can steal, and when it smells that good you don’t really need much more of an excuse! This is also the season you can play around with skin finishes
and so you can get away with something that has a bit of a glitter in it! HE-SHI Luminous Shimmer
is a wash-off tan bronzer with a glittering finish, don’t be put off by the wash-off tan part as it is not that strong, this is a product that is super fun on ALL skin tones, glitter and warmed-up skin is for everybody, especially at Christmas!
-- That's me sorted for the festive season. But, before we run off to dip ourselves in glitter (and rest assured we will), we want to share bits and pieces about the things Bea loves the most. She's not just mega skilled but also mighty cool - what she loves is probably worth checking out. Song: Duetto Buffo Di Due Gatti
. I am the world’s biggest cat lover, ever. Lipstick:
My favourite all-time lipstick has to be MAC's
Ruby Woo. I just ADORE the super matte pink-red tone of trusty Ruby Woo! My trick is to apply this lipstick straight from the bullet as it is so heavily pigmented it just isn't the same when you use a brush. There is actually another shade with exactly the same lipstick consistency called Flat Out Fabulous from the MAC Retro Matte selection, which is a Bright Plum Matte tone - a shade only for the brave pink-lipped lovers but simply perfect for the festive party season! Christmas film:
I enjoy re-runs of old classics such as Home Alone (1990). Despite being only 1 or 2 years old upon release, I still remember being really young and recording this film off the TV on to video and replaying it over and over. I think I also had a little thing for Macaulay Culkin (who didn’t in the 90’s!). Other favourites include Willow, Labyrinth and Dark Crystal, although I'm not sure they come under the umbrella of "Christmas". Spot in London:
There is a café on Woburn Walk near Euston called “Sorrento Snack Bar” which is one of London’s hidden authentic Italian gems! The owner makes the best lemon-pepper chicken, they’re generous with portions and remarkably cheap for London. They’re very old-school and that’s a very good thing in my book. Especially when it comes to food. Style icon: Adora Batbrat
