The East London Reportage by Stefano Venturi
Stefano Venturi, a young Italian photographer, has sought out and found the depths of London and it’s inhabitants since he arrived from Venice a few years back. His subjects range from oldtimers to young bucks, intellects to hooligans, artists, caretakers, ones who need to be taken care of, veterans, drug dealers, lotto goers, construction workers, and beyond; and because of each character’s common denominator: their East London heritage, they’ve all built this city. Stefano’s photography grasps the true identities of each captivating subject.
This is The East London Reportage by Stefano Venturi.
Mick, 74, has been knocking down building his entire life to get himself heroin and his special brew (pretty good stuff he’s been taking). He now hangs out on Brick Lane, complaining about his life, and how he used to spend it high at Sex Pistol gigs with his pal, Tom.
Meet: Hellen / Jane / Mary
The most known character in Dalston, Hellen (a.k.a. Jane or Mary) is always venturing to nowhere, asking for a Mia Lira (which is either a person, or ‘her lyre’ in English). She speaks Greek and no one knows why.
Tom (a.k.a. Batman Winter Cap) is a friend of Mick’s. He has a similar story and he’s paranoid everyone works for the police.
