KATIE EARY LCM AW16
MAKEUP BY BEA SWEET & team @ lmcworldwide
On 11.01.16 I keyed the makeup for Katie Eary’s AW16 show at London Collections Men, styled by Elizabeth Fraser-Bell. This season, Katie was inspired by a moment in popular music culture/subculture, sparked by “The Sacred Triangle” documentary, directed by Alec Lindsell. Bowie, Iggy & Lou 1971-1973, A film analyzing the influences Lou Reed and Iggy Pop had on David Bowie and how Bowie had in turn been fundamental in the nuture of their careers.
“Following the journey of the clothing from lover to stage outfits. I was taken by Iggy Pop and Nico’s brief fling leading to the idea of them swapping clothes in the process of creating music and being lovers. This rule applied to all rock stars (of that time) with their lovers – It’s my version of magpie androgyny.”
The makeup for boys had to be clean, fresh and simple – almost as they are minus any blemishes, with delicately dewy highlights and moisturised skin.
We had 6 girls in the show who I created a late-60’s inspired look for. I wanted the girls to have an ugly but beautiful eye, so after applying Ardell Glamour 113 false eyelashes to the top eyelashes and Ardell Individual Knot Free Medium Eyelashes for the bottom eyelashes, I layered up the mascara, put a load of Maybelleine Go Colossal Extreme Mascara onto my finger tips and quite literally “pinched” the eyelashes together so they deliberately mashed, crossed and stuck where they ordinarily shouldn’t. Because of the pinching motion, the hair-crossing develops quite organically and leaves a beautiful trail of mascara in its path. The lips were created using a shade called “Fable” by Illamasqua, a baby peached-pink matte shade.
