Josephine Jones on creativity, craftsmanship and collaboration.

At Miista we are committed to present the stories of creatives who inspire us. We have been building a community for some time, collaborating with artists whose experiences and lessons will inspire you too.

London based multidisciplinary creative Josephine Jones finds herself in the intersection of art and design. Since graduating from Goldsmith with a First Class Degree, just like the city where she lives, she has kept reinventing herself and her practice, leading conversations in the industry and advocating for gender equality.

Here are 3 things we learnt from Josephine Jones’s interview with Miista:

2. Josephine is a multimedia artist, with a background in fine arts at Goldsmith University.
My medium has always been my message. I love working with garments that hold a certain power and the ability to change how you feel. It’s a language we can use subconsciously. I have explored different mediums, from writing, to video art and now as a designer, I am creating a world, and a message to be spread about creativity and self expression.

3. Josephine as part of the QUEER community challenges gender, sexuality, masculinity and femininity.
Community to me is support, an infrastructure that is ever present. Because essentially, the worst ever punishment to a human being is isolation. As queer people, it is important to come together and create this mutual respect and understanding even in the struggle and adversity, to help each other keep going.
