Carnival with Fernanda Liberti
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

We recently took Miista, with friend and photographer Fernanda Liberti, in a suitcase to her hometown in Rio, Brazil, to celebrate Carnival for the first-time. It's where the magic happens.
We've spoken many times at Miista about that special feeling of being out when the night turns into day; those nights that never end. A reflection on how even ourselves can shift our perceptions, practices, and personalities in line with the world around us.
It feels like our SS24 collection was made for our 14-hour night-to-day party. But it makes sense. We designed it inspired by the underground nightlife of the late 70s' in Brazil, and the impact that collectives like Dzie Croquettes had towards transforming ways of thinking in society of that period, while also paving the road for today.

"You're going to have a heart attack; these are some of the most amazing photos I have ever taken."
That is exactly what happened in Rio, and these are the photos to document just that; through the lens of Fernanda, inside Mariwo, a queer nightclub with the spirit and style of Brazil’s youth. The energy of the party was euphoric.
Fernanda stayed up all night with Ildjima (@queentoide), Jade (@jade.sassara), and Onirica (@afronirica) to find out how the sun rose and whether our shoes made it through.
We can’t just DM you the location, but take this as an invitation to experience 14-hours partying at Mariwo in Rio with Miista and close friends.

Enough said. We hope you like them as much as we do. And if you do, we’re out and about shooting another story as we speak. Coming very soon, but for now, explore all the styles that saw the streets of Rio.
